Wellfleet is a working fishing village on outer Cape Cod. With the stunning dunes of the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the warm water, gentle waves, and tide pools of Cape Cod Bay to the west, and large, clean fresh water ponds in the middle, it’s hard to believe Wellfleet is just over 34 square miles in size. Seventy percent of the land is protected, and almost half is in the National Seashore. Many of the beaches are restricted to local residents, which keeps them relatively uncrowded even at the height of the season.
Wellfleet has also become a destination for art galleries, theater, and dining. The town sponsors a number of summer activities for both adults and children. If you’re looking for a day of shopping, whale watching, or a night out you won’t soon forget, Provincetown is just 15 miles down the road. Whether your interest is sailing, surfing, beachcombing, kayaking, swimming, or just reading in the shade, you can truly have it all in Wellfleet. |
